Forklaring på de forskellige former:

Indicativo:
|
Indicativo kan oversættes med fremsættende måde og betegner en ligefrem og reel handling.
Indicativo bruges som oftest i talesproget.
|

Congiuntivo:
|
Congiuntivo er det samme som konjunktiv på dansk. Bruges især i ledsætninger, altså indordnet under et andet udsagn.
Formen angiver, at den talende ikke umiddelbart står inde for det sagte som noget faktisk, og at det kun gælder fra en vis synsvinkel.

Condizionale:
|
Condizionale er en bøjningsform, der kan udtrykke fremtid, ønske eller høflighed, men ikke vilje.
|
|
Imperativo:
|
Imperativo svarer på dansk til bydemåde, altså en ordre, opfordring eller en 'anklagende' besked.
Eks: Du er så doven! - Vent et øjeblik!
|
|
Participio:
|
Paticipio svarer på dansk til tillægsform, tillægsmåde. Participier indgår bla. i sammensatte verbalformer,
f.eks: hun har dræbt en løve / hun blev dræbt af en løve, eller bruges som tillægsord, f.eks: tavsheden var dræbende.
|
|
Gerundio:
|
Gerundio lægger sig altid til sætningens grundled og svarer som regel til en dansk ledsætning.
Formen er meget almindeligt brugt, også i talesprog.
